Recommendations for Travelling families

We often get asked for our best recommendations from everything to flight booking sites, places to stay, packing tips, and travel inspiration.  These are the companies, businesses, websites or apps we love to use in relation to our Travels.  We would never recommend anything that we personally haven’t used, so rest assured that here on Our Family Travels we will only recommend a product, service or business we absolutely love!  We hope you too love our recommendations!

Travel inspiration

Lonely planet books

Our travel planning always starts with a Lonely Planet Book, ebook or guide.  They are the perfect companion for anyone planning a holiday.

Travel booking sites:  ACCOMMODATION

Airbnb

We absolutely LOVE using Airbnb for our first port of call for booking accommodation when we travel.  I wrote about the benefits of using Airbnb for families here, and also wrote tip on how to ensure you get the best out of Airbnb here.

If you sign up with AirBnb by clicking here, you will receive a $50 travel credit for your first booking.

Photography gear

We are keen holiday photo snappers and have an array of options to pack when holidaying.    Read this article here for more detail about what we pack, why we pack it and how we manage it all.

Our Kit involves the following

  1.  DSLR Camera – Canon 5d Mark iii
Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS with 1080p Full-HD Video Mode Digital SLR Camera (Body)
  2. Fuji – mirroless digital camera

Fujifilm X-T1 16 MP Mirrorless Digital Camera with 3.0-Inch LCD (Body Only) (Weather Resistant)

3.  Go Pro!  – we are new the GoPro game (very late indeed) but loving the ease, compatibility and discreetness of it all.  The software to make short video clips is also so user friends, quick and a perfect project for the kids to work on.

GoPro HERO5 Black

       4. Phone!  These days, the main camera people have on them.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus Unlocked Phone 128 GB – US Version (Black)

5.  The old fashion polaroid camera for the new generation.  This is my daughters camera and she loves having the photo to hold instantly after she takes it!  Makes for great journalling whilst travelling.

Fujifilm Instax MINI 7s White Instant Film Camera

Other Technology

It’s important to stay connected whilst on holidays.  So we choose to travel with iPad’s.
Apple iPad Air 2 MNV72LL/A 9.7-Inch 32GB Wi-Fi Tablet (Gold)

Headphones have become a great investment whilst travelling.  We each have a pair and I would prefer to take our own really good ones that put up with the cheap and annoying ones they give you on the plan.

Hubby and I opted for Sony MDRZX110NC Noise Cancelling Headphones

For our young daughter volume reducing headphones are what we have selected and will be using Moki ACC HPKP Volume Limited Kids Headphones – Pink

After the holidays it’s so important to have those special memories put to good use.  We love mixing it up with photo books, framed photos, prints and more!  Here are few online services we love!

blogging / social media

There is so much to consider when beginning a blog and getting it right was a our first priority.  Here are a few key businesses, courses and services that we use. More will be added, so be sure to check back regularly!

Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Course

I did this course as I wanted to know the best way to promote products and services in a fair way.  I have learnt so much about the possibilities of affiliate marketing and how to build a successful blog from affiliate marketing.  Michelle’s website is full of great financial tips and her advice is sound and practical.

Digital Picnic Get Social Savvy Course

TDP – E Course – Learn everything Social Media for your business

I have attended several workshops by Cat and Cherie.  Over the course of an afternoon, I got the inside scoop on all things social media, a take home version of the notes to refer back to anytime and REAL advice to growing my social media right.  Of course if you are considering blogging or building a web based business, then social media is vital to get right from the the get-go and Cherie and Cat really know what they are talking about.  Not in Australia?  I think an online version is pefect.   Click here for more information about their online course.
