Travel Books 8 - Travel to far places with these books

Books for the travelling soul

Besides my love for travel and my family – my other love is reading. I love to read. There is something in the pages where I can escape and truely immerse myself in the story. So many books I have read have nurtured my inner traveller and the other day I put a little call out on my facebook page asking you what book has really made you consider the location depicted in a novel a place where you would travel.  Recently we travelled through Scotland and have just read (and ok watched) Outlander, it was fascinating to me to see locations, descriptions and places come to life that were such a vital part to the story.  So back to my call out.  Well,  you all inundated me with such fabulous reads that I have thought it was too precious not to share.

There’s some great books there! Plus some more I’ll have to put on my ‘to read’ list!

  • Lisa says:

Ooh, I have one that may well be worthy of inclusion – I have only just started reading it, but it has been a looong time since a book drew me in so forcefully and quickly! Two Steps Forward by Graeme Simsion and Anne Buist. First person narrative from the perspective of two people walking the Camino de Santiago from France. Only a few chapters in … can’t put it down!!!

    • Brenda says:

Oh I was gifted that book too and it’s on my bedside table to read after I finish my current book (which is based in old-time America) – The Camino trail is a trip we would love to do.
