Where can we find you on social media or website?
Where are you currently calling home?
We live in Boonah in the Scenic Rim region of South East Queensland
Tell us about what family travel means to you?
Family travel is all about adventure for us, and we also want to encourage families to use the opportunities that they have to get their kids active and have and adventure experiences together. It doesn’t have to be extreme, it should just be new, challenging or exciting. We love to hike, mountain bike, trail run and paddle together. Travelling means we get to explore the natural beauty of new areas and always look for off-the-beaten-track experiences that will give our boys a challenge and some special memories.
What are your current or future travel plans and what is important for you when you consider a destination for your family?
September School holidays – we are doing the 4 day Yuraygir Coastal Walk from Angourie to Red Rock in NSW. We are really looking forward to seeing this amazing stretch of coastline, step by step!
Other areas on our list:
- Back to Koscuiszko for more hiking and camping)
- Blue Mountains (hiking and camping)
- Central Otago Rail Trail (Mountain Bike and camping)
- Keep exploring around SE Qld every chance we get!
Have you got a special way you document your travels? A way to store the memories?
We share on Instagram and Facebook and we edit videos for YouTube. Through Instagram, we’ve connected with families from around the world who say that our message really resonates with them. We want to inspire others, so social media is both a way to store memories as well as a way to help other families get started in adventure.
What would you say to others considering travelling as a family? What advice would you offer?
Adventure is all around us! So when travelling, it’s great to plan but also essential to be flexible. Some of the crazy last minute things that we ave don have been the most memorable for the kids. Taking the time to swim in a waterhole, pull over on a road trip to do an impromptu hike to a lookout.
I do like to research an area thoroughly so I know what adventure options there are available and what is suitable for our family, but then when we get to an area we are really flexible with decided what we will do with our time.
Thank you so much Kate for being apart of the The Heartfelt Series.
